On Juneteenth (June 19th) 2023, the Executive Leadership Council visited the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to commemorate the occasion. Executive Leader Sam Miri shares the details:
Since June 19, 2021, Juneteenth has been a federal holiday. Each year since its initial observance in the United States as a national holiday, more and more organizations and entities have stepped up to the plate to show their respect. This year, the Executive Leadership Council made their first grand display. Following Juneteenth, members of the Council visited the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square to ring the opening bell on the following day, June 20, 2023.
Sam Miri explains that this is particularly momentous and symbolic, because the Council is the preeminent global organization for Black executive leaders, including senior executives, board members, entrepreneurs, global thought leaders and other powerhouse professionals who are also a part of the Black American community. This moment was more than just a major sign of camaraderie and support for America’s ancestors. It also stands to send a clear message to the next generation of Black corporate and executive leaders. Michael C. Hyter, President and CEO, as well as Board Chair Gale V. King were both proud to ring the Opening Bell.
